Google Street View expands to Europe

It isn't a lot of coverage yet but Google is adding most of the route of the Tour de France.

Most of the street views of Paris were taken around thursday, 1 May 2008.*
Google works the Labour Day but it's a good day for the empty streets.
Could anyone find a precise proof of a date in a street view ?
* how I define the day :
— Every shop seems to be closed (except tourist shops, restaurants, and Champs-Élysées who have a special law)
— The movie posters are from this week.
— The paulownias tomentosa of the avenue carnot and under the Eiffel tower are in flowers. (Only one week this year).

An English tabloid ran a story on how Google was going to "take a picture of every front door in the UK!" recently. The camera cars were on the road at the time.
How Google was planning on getting the camera cars down the hallways of an apartment building was not explained.

Japan, Australia, and more American cities were added today... but from what I've looked at so far, it's all in low definition.

A bunch of new US areas are marked for expansion. You can see the blue highlights on the streets when zoomed way out. On closer zoom however the blue goes away:
