Ramsay visits a husband and wife operated inn located at the former Roosevelt Elementary school. The wife was a reluctant partner of an impulse real estate investment by her husband, who had been a former student of the school. The hotel was plagued with unwashed linens, outdated decor, and a small kitchen. The owner hosted in a monthly gathering for a barely profitable murder mystery, which he played the role of Sherlock Holmes. Ramsay's team makeover included: updating the interior decor, devising a home cooked menu that could be made from the small kitchen, and revamping their wedding business. This season finale also featured a wedding that same night of the reveal.

Ramsay visits a hotel in the Gaslamp Quarter of San Diego where rooms go for $800 per night. The owner is a former Ferrari dealer and he has decorated the hotel to his personal tastes, which lean more to form over function. The chef at the hotel restaurant has a hard time saying "no" to the owner's menu suggestions, such as chocolate-bacon-strawberry pizza. Room service orders are delivered in cardboard boxes and plastic containers, which do not befit a luxury hotel. Ramsay redecorates the rooms and redesigns the menu, and convinces the owner to allow his staff to tell him "no" when needed.

Ramsay visits the town's historical hotel that the locals feel that they were out of place there, due to an atmosphere that they perceived as upper crust. Robert, the hotel's owner, gives Ramsay a stunning room, but it smells of "raw sewage", owing to plumbing problems that were never fixed. Juniper Hill's restaurant not only overcharges for food at rates more befitting for a gourmet restaurant, it also is not well cooked. The staff then tell their own stories of not being paid for their work, and when they did get paid, they were only paid a fraction of the money owed. Ramsay then discovers that Robert and his boyfriend and co-owner, Ari, bring their friends to the hotel where they stay, eat and drink for free without leaving a tip, and when they did leave a tip, Robert would take it for himself. An employee then shows Ramsay Robert's four storage units, the basement and the office – all filled with antiques and collectibles. The visit came to a head when Ramsay approaches Robert in his $100,000 motor coach to explain his findings, mandating that he calls a friend to explain the situation of the tips, only to be told that she left money with Robert. At that point, Ramsay leaves in anger in his own SUV, ending the episode in a To Be Continued cliffhanger.]]>

Shiv Niwas Palace is a former residence of the Maharana of Udaipur, Rajasthan, located on the banks of Lake Pichola.
Located to the south side of and part of the City Palace complex, work on this building was begun by Maharana Sajjan Shambhu Singh (1874 to 1884) and finished by his successor Maharana Fateh Singh at the beginning of the 20th century as a royal guesthouse.
During its time as a guesthouse it hosted a number of royal gatherings and VIP visits from all over the world, including George V of the United Kingdom in 1905, and Edward the Prince of Wales.
By the time that Bhagwat Singh succeeded to the throne of Mewar in 1955, it was becoming increasing difficult for the royal family to afford the cost of maintaining the large numbers of royal residences that they owned, in particular the city palace. Following his success in converting the Lake Palace into an income generating hotel he decided to also convert the Shiv Niwas and the smaller Fateh Prakash Palace into luxury heritage hotels. After a 4 year long period of conversion the Shiv Niwas opened as a hotel in 1982.

The Kobe Bryant sexual assault case began in July 2003 when the news media reported that the sheriff's office in Eagle, Colorado had arrested NBA superstar Kobe Bryant in connection with an investigation of a sexual assault complaint filed by a 19-year-old hotel employee. Bryant had checked into The Lodge and Spa at Cordillera, a hotel in Edwards, Colorado, on June 30 in advance of having surgery near there on July 2 under Dr. Richard Steadman. The woman accused Bryant of raping her in his hotel room on July 1, the night before the surgery. Bryant admitted to an adulterous sexual encounter with his accuser, but denied the assault allegation. The case was dropped after Bryant's accuser refused to testify in the case. A separate civil suit was later filed against Bryant by the woman. This was settled out of court and included Bryant's publicly apologizing to his accuser, though admitting no guilt on his part.]]>

Conrad Nicholson Hilton (December 25, 1887 – January 3, 1979) was an American hotelier. He is well known for being the founder of the Hilton Hotels chain.

It was with the intention of buying a bank that he arrived in Texas at the height of the oil boom. He bought his first hotel instead, the 40-room Mobley Hotel in Cisco, Texas, in 1919, when a bank purchase fell through. The hotel did such brisk business that rooms changed hands as much as three times a day, and the dining room was converted into additional rooms to meet the demand.

The Belton Chalets are a group of historic hotel buildings in the village of West Glacier, Montana, near the western entrance to Glacier National Park. The chalet buildings were built in 1910-11 by the Great Northern Railway (GN) as the first component of the railroad's ambitious program of hotel, road, and trail construction in Glacier. The Rockingham Hotel is a historic hotel that was originally built in 1785 as a residence by Woodbury Langdon, prominent merchant and politician. Thomas Coburn converted it into a hotel which opened November 1, 1833. Frank Jones, who was, among other things, mayor of Portsmouth, a US Representative, and a brewer, bought it in 1870. After a fire in 1884, Jones rebuilt it extensively. The only significant part saved from Langdon's mansion was the dining room, which is now the Library Restaurant.

The building incorporates lions, Jones's personal symbol, terra cotta sculptures of the Four Seasons of Man, and busts of Jones and Langdon. It was a hotel until 1973 and is now condominiums. The building has been host to presidents George Washington, Franklin Pierce, James K. Polk, Theodore Roosevelt, Chester A. Arthur, William H. Taft and John F. Kennedy.

Otterburn Tower (sometimes spelled Otiburne; originally Otterburn Castle; currently Otterburn Tower Hotel) is a Grade II listed castellated, three star country house hotel in Otterburn, Northumberland. It is set in 32 acres (13 ha) of deer park and woodland in the Northumberland National Park in northeastern England. Originally founded by a cousin of William the Conqueror in 1086, it was later owned by the Clan Hall, before being rebuilt in 1830 by Thomas James, a magistrate, on the site and using some of the stones from the Otterburn Castle. Nearby Otterburn Hall was built in 1870 on land gifted to a Lord Douglas as recompense for the death of his ancestor Lord William Douglas in the Battle of Otterburn.
