The Ópera de Arame, or the Wire Opera House, in English, is a theatre house located in the city of Curitiba, the capital of the state of Paraná, in southern Brazil. It is one of the major tourist attractions of the city. Situated in the middle of an urban green park, Parque das Pedreiras, the Wire Opera House theatre is built out of steel tubes, which gave it its name.

The National Theatre of Dona Maria II (or Teatro Nacional de Almeida Garrett) on the north side of the Rossio was built by the Italian Fortunato Lodi on the initiative of the author and temporary liberal politician Almeida Garrett, and is named after Queen Maria II, daughter of Pedro IV. The Palácio dos Estaus, a palace used by the Inquisitors to carry out their work, originally stood on this site. The foundation stone of the present Classical building was laid in 1842 and it was officially opened four years later. The interior was destroyed by fire in 1964 and not reopened until 1978, as this was seen as an opportunity to renovate completely the theater and equip it with modern technology.

It was designed in 1991 by Latz + Partner (Peter Latz), with the intention that it work to heal and understand the industrial past, rather than trying to reject it. The park closely associates itself with the past use of the site: a coal and steel production plant (abandoned in 1985, leaving the area significantly polluted) and the agricultural land it had been prior to the mid 19th century.]]>

The Edoff Memorial Bandstand was built in 1923 and was recently renovated after the damaged incurred during the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake.

According to history files, the Oakland Municipal Band is the second oldest municipal band in California, and one of the oldest in the country. During its peak years, the band performed up to 17 times in a season.

The bandstand's unique location in a sandy beach cove flanked by gently banking slopes on three sides, forms a natural amphitheater. Prevailing winds often carry the musical sounds across the lake, fans say.

The structure was substantially weakened by the 1989 earthquake. Funds from Federal Emergency Management Agency and the Measure I bond covered the cost of steel rods inserted into the columns, and a lift for disabled access.

"While the bandstand was being restored, the band members would perform alongside it," Woodell recalled. "Now that the work has been completed, the musicians can use it once more." ]]>

The Romanian Athenaeum (Romanian: Ateneul Român) is a concert hall in the center of Bucharest, Romania. Opened in 1888, the ornate, domed, circular building is the city's main concert hall and the home of the "George Enescu" Philharmonic and the home of an annual international music festival also named after George Enescu.

The Romanian Atheneum Society was founded in 1865 by Constantin Esarcu, V. A. Ureche, and Nicolae Creţulescu. A portion of the construction funds was raised by public subscription in a 28-year long effort, still remembered today by the slogan "Daţi un leu pentru Ateneu!" ("Give one leu for the Ateneu!").

The building was designed by the French architect Albert Galleron, on property that had belonged to the Văcărescu family. The overall style is neoclassical, with some more romantic touches. The ground floor is an ornate conference hall as large as the auditorium above; the auditorium seats 600 in the stalls and another 52 in loge seating. Above the loges is a frieze and a group of 25 frescoes by Costin Petrescu depicting scenes from the history of Romania. In front, there is a statue of Romanian poet Mihai Eminescu.

On December 29, 1919, the Atheneum was the site of the conference of leading Romanians who voted to ratify the unification of Bessarabia, Transylvania, and Bukovina with the Romanian Old Kingdom to constitute Greater Romania.]]>

The theatre was inaugurated under the emperor Hadrian in the year 126 A.D and completed by Caracalla between 200 and 210 A.D. It has a capacity of 10,000 and is located in the western zone of the city in the vicinity of the cardo maximus of the roman city plan (corresponding to the modern-day Via C. Torre.)

The area of the theatre was abandoned during the first Longobard period but later with Arechis it became the centre of agricultural and artisan activity. It was absorbed into the mediaeval quarter of Triggio and became practically illegible. For example the church of St. Maria della Verita (St. Mary of the Truth) was built inside the left part of the cavea, or seating area, in the 17th century and used the theatre building as a sub-were demolishe, parts of the theatre buried underground were brought to light and consolidation work was carried out on the building. ]]>

"Cricket Arena was opened and dedicated in 1955 as the Charlotte Coliseum. At the time it was the largest unsupported steel dome in the world. After the new Charlotte Coliseum opened in 1988, the name was changed to Independence Arena (named for its location on Independence Boulevard in Charlotte) and underwent an extensive renovation. In 2001 the arena was given its current-day name in a naming rights arrangement.

it seems likely that Cricket Arena will remain open as a venue for medium-sized concerts which would not be suitable for the new Bobcats Arena, and also high school and some college sporting events, along with local attractions in years to come. Furthermore, Cricket Arena would be ready in case Bobcats Arena may not be available for short-series (three game) playoffs in the first two rounds of the ECHL Kelly Cup Playoffs (as is a problem sometimes in the ECHL). Opened in October 2005. Currently the home of the Charlotte Bobcats of the NBA, Charlotte Sting of the WNBA, Charlotte Checkers minor league hockey team (ECHL), college basketball and concerts.

How long will this name last before a corporate name is slapped on? And then how long before that name is then changed?!? Page & Turnbull served as historical architects in preparing a plan of preservation strategies, completing measured drawings and a historical survey, code analysis and design review of the proposed seismic work and sandstone repair.

Designed by the Reid Brothers in 1899 and named for Claus Spreckels, the bandshell stands on the site of the 1894 Midwinter International Exposition in Golden Gate Park’s Music Concourse. The Italian Renaissance-inspired terra cotta and sandstone bandshell held its inaugural concert on Admission Day, 1900. Seriously damaged in the 1906 earthquake it was closed following the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake.]]>
