Grønnegaards Theater is an outdoor theater in Copenhagen, founded in 1982.

Theater was founded by a group of actors who were trained from the actors school at the Odense Teater, namely Christian Steffensen, Søren Sætter-Lassen and Lars Liebst. During the time a student had played the Holberg-play "Henrik and Pernille". They got the urge to repeat the success, which they did in the Danish Museum of Art & Design to which the theater is named after. Lars Liebst was theater director until 1996, when he was followed by Klaus Bondam. Since 2003, Steen Stig Lommer has been theater director.

Since 2001 Grønnegårds Theater has been one of the small city theaters in Copenhagen, but the theater is also supported by a number of companies and foundations. The theater is known for its summer shows, since 1993 only consisted of Holberg-plays. Since then, the theater listed interpretations of Shakespeare, Molière and Marivaux, and newer pieces, for example. Nikoline Werdelins "Natmandens Datter" from 2006, which became the largest audience success to date for the theater.

The theater behaved 1987-1993 also works in Ridehuset at Christiansborg, including Svend Åge Madsen's Dødens Theater (1987), as in 1994 and 1995 made the Christmas performances of Charles Dickens in the Tivoli Glassal. In 2007, Holberg's theater-classic "Erasmus Montanus" was played.

The Royal Danish Theatre (Danish: Det Kongelige Teater) is both the national Danish performing arts institution and a name used to refer to its old purpose-built venue from 1874 located on Kongens Nytorv in Copenhagen. The theatre was founded in 1748, first serving as the theatre of the king, and then as the theatre of the country. The theatre presents opera, the Royal Danish Ballet, classical music concerts (by the Royal Danish Orchestra, which dates back to 1448), and drama in several locations.

Built by J. Kirby Buckner, the Palace opened its doors as a movie house to an excited and enthusiastic audience in 1940. In 1975 the building was purchased by oil baroness Mrs. R. L. Slaughter (affectionately known as "Aunt Susie") and it became the home of the Grapevine Opry. Greatly changed over the years, its Art Deco design has been restored through the work of the Grapevine Heritage Foundation who purchased the building in 1991. It now serves as a community performing arts center. This theatre is included in the Grapevine Commercial Historic District which is listed in the U.S. National Register of Historical Places.

The theatre was founded by Walter and Rose Oemichen in 1948.
The most well known stars of the Puppenkiste are Jim Knopf (1961/62, 1976/77) and Urmel (1969/74). Today, programs of the Augsburger Puppenkiste are still broadcast on television, mainly as special features.

The Wales Millennium Centre (Welsh: Canolfan Mileniwm Cymru) is a centre for the performing arts located in the Cardiff Bay area of Cardiff, Wales. It was opened during the weekend of the 26-28 November 2004 and has hosted performances of opera, ballet, dance, comedy and musicals. The 37,000 square metre (398,000 square foot) building currently comprises two theatres, shops, bars and restaurants, and seven resident Welsh arts organisations. The total area of the site covers 4.7 acres (1.9 hectares).

The main theatre, the Donald Gordon Theatre, holds 1,897 people and the second theatre, the Weston Studio Theatre, has a maximum capacity of 250 people. By the end of 2008 the building will also incorporate the BBC Hoddinott Hall, which will hold 350 people, and will be home to the BBC National Orchestra of Wales.

Many famous British actors have passed through St Martin's. In April 1923 Basil Rathbone played Harry Domain in R.U.R. and in June 1927 Henry Daniell appeared there as Gregory Brown in Meet the Wife.

Bertie Meyer, who was so closely involved in the St Martin's in the early days, ran the theatre intermittently from 1916 to 1967, when his son R.A.(Ricky) took over. Ricky was the administrator for twenty years until his retirement in 1987; he remained as a consultant until his death in 1991.

Agatha Christie's "The Mousetrap" transferred in March 1974 - it is still there, now holding a World Record. The theatre was Grade II listed by English Heritage in March 1973

The Mercat de les Flors theatre was established in 1983 by the Mayor of Barcelona Pasqual Maragall, and the councilor responsible for Culture, Maria Aurèlia Capmany. The theatre is in the Noucentista building of the Palau de l'Agricultura, built at the time of the 1929 International Exhibition on the hill of Montjuïc. It is close to the Teatre Grec, Fundacio Joan Miro and the Jardins del Laribal.
One of the most impressive components of the building is the great 12m wide dome over the lobby, designed by Miquel Barceló of Mallorca. The Mercat de les Flors forms part of the facilities making up the City of Theatre, where the Plaça Margarita Xirgu links three theatrical spaces: the Mercat, the Teatre Lliure and the Theatre Institute. The Mercat produces an international array of performances and acts each season, and is also one of the participating venues during the yearly Grec Festival.

Aspendos is known for having the best-preserved theater of antiquity. With diameter of 96 meters (315 ft), the theater provided seating for 7,000.

The theater was built in 155 by the Greek architect Zenon, a native of the city, during the rule of Marcus Aurelius. It was periodically repaired by the Seljuks who used it as a caravanserai.

In order to keep with Hellenistic traditions, a small part of the theater was built so that it leaned against the hill where the Citadel (Acropolis) stood, while the remainder was built on vaulted arches. The high stage served to seemingly isolate the audience from the rest of the world. The scaenae frons or backdrop, has remained intact. The 8.1 meter (27 ft) sloping reflective wooden ceiling over the stage has been lost over time. Post holes for 58 masts are found in the upper level of the theater. These masts supported a velarium or awning that could be pulled over the audience to provide shade.

Still used today for concerts, festivals and events, the theater's galleries, stage decorations and acoustics all testify to the architect's success.

Ancient Perge, one of the chief cities of Pamphylia, was situated between the Rivers Catarrhactes (Duden sou) and Cestrus (Ak sou), 60 stadia from the mouth of the latter; the site is in the modern Turkish village of Murtana on the Suridjik sou, a tributary of the Cestrus, formerly in the Ottoman vilayet of Koniah. Priene (Greek: Πριήνη, modern Samsun kale) was an ancient Greek city of Ionia (and member of the Ionian League) on the foot-hills of Mycale, about 6 miles north of the Maeander. It was formerly on the sea coast, but now lies some miles inland.

It is said to have been founded by Ionians under Aegyptus, a son of Belus. The grand roman building is situated in the centre of Lecce, and dates back to the first half of the 1st century. It was excavated in 1938 and it is the main finding of the Roman city of Lupiae. Partly built in travertine, partly supported by solid arches, the theatre could contain more than 20,000 spectators. Today, only the terraces of inferior order are visible, separated from the arena by a balustrade full of relieves and half of the structure, still underground.

With Bartabas and Zingaro we are taken this time to the world of Gypsies. A horse show of such rhythm that it contrasts sharply with the troupe's latest shows.
The Zingaro equestrian theatre is driven by a state of mind. It draws breath from the Gypsies, from this relation with life and the ephemeral, linked to the feeling of freedom that prompts and guides it.
Horses and artistshorsemen are literally carried away by two groups of Rumanian musicians, a brass band from Moldavia, and a string ensemble from Transylvania.
The rapid pace of the gallop and the constant movement of the water, which symbolises life among the Gypsies, set the tone for the show.

The theatre was inaugurated under the emperor Hadrian in the year 126 A.D and completed by Caracalla between 200 and 210 A.D. It has a capacity of 10,000 and is located in the western zone of the city in the vicinity of the cardo maximus of the roman city plan (corresponding to the modern-day Via C. Torre.)

The area of the theatre was abandoned during the first Longobard period but later with Arechis it became the centre of agricultural and artisan activity. It was absorbed into the mediaeval quarter of Triggio and became practically illegible. For example the church of St. Maria della Verita (St. Mary of the Truth) was built inside the left part of the cavea, or seating area, in the 17th century and used the theatre building as a sub-were demolishe, parts of the theatre buried underground were brought to light and consolidation work was carried out on the building.

The Theatre of Marcellus (Theatrum Marcelli) in Rome was named after Marcus Marcellus, Caesar Augustus' nephew who died five years before its completion. Space for the theatre was cleared by Julius Caesar[1], who was murdered before it could be begun; the theatre was so far advanced by 17 BC that part of the celebration of the ludi saeculares took place within the theatre, which was inaugurated in 12 BC by Emperor Augustus[1] and completed in 11 BC.

The Théâtre des Champs-Élysées is a Parisian theatre, famous for being the place of the scandal related to the first performance of Igor Stravinsky's Rite of Spring in 1913.

In spite of its name, it is not located on Champs-Élysées, but at 15, avenue Montaigne, still in the VIIIe arrondissement of Paris, France. Completed in 1913, the venue is one of the few major examples of Art Nouveau in Paris. It is the work of Perret, with exterior bas relief by Antoine Bourdelle, a dome by Maurice Denis, paintings by Édouard Vuillard and a stage curtain by Xavier Roussel.

The theatre was started by journalist and impresario Gabriel Astruc with a view to provide contemporary music-making, dance and opera with a suitable venue, unlike traditional, more conservative institutions such as the Paris Opera. Accordingly, it housed the Ballets Russes for its first season and consequently the world première of what many deem the most influential piece of music from the twentieth century: the Rite of Spring.

Although the theatre is a private venture, it is sponsored by the Caisse des Dépôts et Consignations, which has owned the building since 1970.

Nowadays, the theatre shows about three staged opera productions a year, mostly baroque or small-orchestra pieces, in accordance with the moderate size of its stage and orchestra pit. In addition, it houses an important concert season. It is home to two orchestras: the Orchestre National de France and Orchestre Lamoureux, as well as the French base of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra. The Orchestre philharmonique de Radio France and Ensemble orchestral de Paris play most of their concerts there too. Some dance, chamber music, recital and pop song events also take place at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées.

The same building also houses the smaller Comédie des Champs-Élysées scene on the 3rd floor and the Studio des Champs-Élysées scene on the 5th floor. Yasmina Reza's Art premiered on the Comédie scene.

Prices can be very expensive and widely ranging on the Théâtre scene for a given concert, from 5 euros for those without visibility, till 150 euros for the best ones, as of April 2006. Avenue Montaigne is one of the most exclusive streets in Paris; it is twinned with Madison Avenue in New York.

The new theatre is the latest state of the art building, with the most technically advanced equipment available. Designed by architects Blonski-Heard, the new theatre accommodates a vast range of productions, from large-scale West End musicals, to smaller, more intimate drama. The auditorium ceiling has been carefully designed to accommodate various shows and can be lowered or raised depending on the scale of the production. The seating can also be moved around within the auditorium to vary the capacity from between 900 and 1,400.

The Macedonian National Gallery is housed in the Daut Pasha Amam (Bath) - an historic monument to the culture of Islam and a fine example of Islamic profane architecture. The construction of the Amam was ordered by Daut Pasha in the second half of the 15th century. The building was originally divided into sections for men and women and possesses a total surface area of 900 square meters. In 1948 the Amam was restored and adapted to its new function as an art gallery.

New reconstruction of the interior were carried out in 1982 and 1999. The first Gallery's permanent collection in 1951 consisted of examples of Macedonian icons (XIV - XIX century), copies of ancient frescoes and models of Macedonian medieval churches, as well as art works of the first generation of Macedonian contemporary artists before WW II and art works from artists from former Yugoslavia. Today's Permanent Collection was created in 2001 as a unique display of the development of the Macedonian fine art from the XIV to XX century.

The National Art Gallery has performed a very significant role and historic role, especially during the early post war years, as the only institution of its kind in Macedonia for the presentation and affirmation of Macedonian fine art. Apart from the regular display of different parts of the collection, the Gallery also presents exhibitions of domestic and foreign works of fine art. The Gallery's international standing has been enhanced through cooperation with important world centers such as Vienna, Venice, Berlin, Istanbul, Dresden, Nuremberg, etc.

At a time when most women of her class and station were content to be ornamental figures, Alice Pike Barney was a one-woman advocate for the arts in Washington. Her mission was twofold: to be an artist and to bring the arts to the people of her adopted city. To that end she donated money to various artistic ventures, brought traveling troupes to Washington, hosted a salon at her studio on Sheridan Circle, painted, wrote plays, ballets and tableaux and built performance spaces, most notably the National Sylvan Theatre on the grounds of the Washington Monument.

Although Barney has been dead for more than 70 years, her spirit lives on in Washington's cultural and civic life. Her paintings are part of the Smithsonian Institution's art collection, the Barney Neighborhood House still functions as a social service agency and the Sylvan Theater continues to be a popular performance venue.

The Burgtheater also known as 'Burg' or 'Haus am Ring' (House at Ring boulevard) is situated in Vienna's first district. In 1741 Empress Maria Theresia handed over an unused dance-parlour to a theatre-company named Sellier. In 1888, the company moved into a closeby house designed and erected by Gottfried Semper and C. von Hasenauer. Since then, this building was used as theatre house. The beautiful facade, whose white marble has recently been cleaned, is adorned with statues of famous writers like Goethe and Schiller and allegoric figures depicting love and hatred.
Inside, the Burgtheater provides a festive atmosphere for great cultural events.

The Burgtheater has obtained a world-wide reputation for brilliant dramatic art and is one of the first theaters of German-speaking Europe. Over the years, its theatrical company of more or less regular members has worked out a traditional style and speech characteristic of Burgtheater performances ('Burgtheaterstil').

The rotunda housing the PANORAMA RACLAWICKA is one of the few places in the world where visitors can see a relic of the 19th century mass culture - a huge, 120m x 15m painting in the shape of a revolving hyperboloid (spool) commemorating the battle of Raclawice. Fought on 4th April 1794, the battle was an overwhelming victory over the Russian army by the Insurrection troops commanded by Tadeusz Kosciuszko. The painting of the PANORAMA took place in Lvov and lasted from August 1893 till May 1894. The painters were Jan Styka and Wojciech Kossak, assisted by other artists. The PANORAMA was intended to add splendour to the National Exhibition in Lvov. From 1894 till 1944 the painting was exhibited inside the town's Stryjski Park Rotunda. In 1946 it was moved to Wroclaw. Over the years three Public Committees had lobbied for the Restoration of the PANORAMA RACLAWICKA lobbied for the public showing of the painting. In 1985, after many years of restoration work, the PANORAMA was finally placed in a purpose-built Rotunda. The construction project lasted from 1967 to 1983. The PANORAMA is shown together with mock-ups of the battlefield and figures of soldiers wearing uniforms dating from the Kosciuszko Insurrection. Unlike with most panoramas displayed in Europe, modern systems allow visitors to view the Wroclaw painting all year round, morning to evening, and to listen to a commentary in one of six languages. The "Panorama Raclawicka" is a member of the Congress of European Panoramas, a forum which promotes panoramic paintings and towns which have them.

When it was built by the Shriners back in 1906 (and rebuilt in 1920 after a fire) the world-famous Shrine Auditorium was the largest indoor auditorium in the world, with almost 6,500 seats. It is still the largest such theatre in America, and that sheer size is what has made the Shrine the preferred venue for Hollywood's most important awards shows.

The Academy Awards show was first presented at the Shrine back in 1947.

Over the years the Shrine has also hosted a variety of other dazzling award shows, including the Grammy Awards, the MTV Music Awards, the American Music Awards, the Screen Actors Guild Awards, the Soul Train Music Awards, the American Comedy Awards, and others.

From the outside, the Shrine Auditorium resembles an exotic Arabian mosque from ages past, or some west coast Taj Mahal, replete with white Persian domes and Moorish arches. Inside, it is a lush, old-fashioned opera house, with red velvet seats and tiered balconies overlooking its cavernous interior.

The auditorium's unusual architecture (inside and out) has made it a favorite movie location. The Shrine has been seen in the original "King Kong" (1933, with Fay Wray), the 1954 version of "A Star is Born" (starring Judy Garland), "The Turning Point" (1977, starring Shirley MacLaine and Anne Bancroft), the 1988 comedy "Foul Play" (with Goldie Hawn and Chevy Chase), "The Doors" (1992, starring Val Kilmer as Jim Morrison), and many others.

The concluding scenes of the 1994 slapstick comedy "Naked Gun 33 1/3: The Final Insult," had a bumbling Leslie Nielsen foiling an assassination attempt during an Academy Awards ceremony. The sequence included exterior shots of the stars arriving at that Shrine.
