hey parabellum, just fyi, this is a different map, its not reposted. this is with google maps, and it looks like its a vacant lot next to the parking lot. no need to reference. plus this one has way more information then just Joint Strike fighter Prototype? kjfitz already put the link to live local up, so its a much more put together profile as well.

Qaddafi's compound lies just to the south, about hlafway to the next roundabout.
The 'Landscaping' that you see is simply grass and interlocking bricks. It took them ages to do it.

That nifty building just to the NW is pyramid shaped. It is the Centre to Research into the Green Book (or something like that) and there is an exact, identical building in Benghazi.

We don't delete them. What we do is mark them with a comment that says which google maps update removed them and change the category to 'satellite update.' If you come across others that are gone just note it in the comments if it hasn't already been moved to 'satellite update.'

I think that your post is wrong.
You point the "45 rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré" and the embassy is "35, rue du Faubourg St Honoré" You can even see Sir John Holmes, the british embassador playing tennis in the garden. (Not sure about that but it could be)

I think I've confirmed this. Check out the Yahoo view of Bonnevile Flats and do some zooming. The low-res view is pure white with splotches of high-contrast blue and green. The high-res views also have these colors, but are otherwise clearly B/W imagery. (See http://virtualglobetrotting.com/map/2018/ for links to views)

Seems that way. The highways to the north and south of the prison line up perfectly, as does the river and other roads further to the north. There's also a cleared strip running SW-NE north of where the prison would be; compare with the YM or GM views and you see that this lines up with the northern edge of a huge swath of clearing running NE from the prison.

Wicked. If you zoom out a bit, you get newer imagery that shows the facility. It looks almost as if the colors of the newer imagery are ghosted onto the older but higher-res imagery.

Makes me think maybe their high-res imagery here is really B&W but they fake some color by blending in the hue of the lower-res imagery. Wonder if more of these can be found?

I believe this to be a theater not an ampitheater. An ampitheater is two theaters placed together with an elipical plane in the center where one would expect gladiators to fight. Similar to the Flavian Ampitheater in Rome. On the other hand this is a theater where on would go for classical drama.
