Oops! The hardest part of being a military brat is remembering WHEN you were stationed WHERE!
We were stationed in Naples in 83-86, NOT 80-83.

And I remembered a few more "growing up in Napoli moments"-

The mudslide that blocked the road to NSA and school.
The "Tape Club" at Afsouth where you could borrow VHS tapes of shows like Family Ties, The Cosby Show, Knight Rider, etc

We lived in Parco Azzurro. I remember running around playing army, finding the old fighter jet.
I attended Pinetemare Elementary and Forrest Sherman and I still think of them when I hear a Ratt or Motley Crew song!

The people who own this property approached our family with guns and rudely told us this was their property and told us to remove ourselves from the property and even escorted us back to our car. I drove down the private road and parked there becase my sister was handicapped. I just wanted to show my kids something cool. I understand they own it. But its a bit scary when the approach children with guns.
I think the parks department should buy this piece of land. I heard it was for sale.

Devil's Slide was the location of a military triangulation station and observation site used during World War II as part of the harbor defense of San Francisco. Prior to the advent of radar, military personnel would use binoculars and compasses to search for ships at sea and relay their coordinates to a central post. By combining information from multiple observation posts, a ship's precise location could be determined by triangulation. There were six military structures at the Devil's Slide:...
