Hello forum,

Just curious but I submitted a new location earlier today and it was rejected. The reason, I believe, was that there is already a listing here for the same house(John Barrymore's house(former). I find it a bit funny.

As far as I know Cooper has owned that residence for the past 3 decades. So if it indeed has at some point been John Barrymore's house a long long time ago(Barrymore has been dead for 70 years) shouldn't it be listed here as Alice Cooper's house instead?

Feel free to post a comment to the Barrymore map with additional information. In this situation, I'll leave it up to the poster of the Barrymore map if we should add to the description to include reference to Cooper.

I tried to find a source online to confirm that Alice lives here. A 1975 newspaper article mentions him living at a different address on this street. His house was destroyed in a fire at that time.

His Phoenix home is on the site:

I kept digging for validity of Cooper living in Barrymore's former estate, and I think I may have found a few things.

The Barrymore home on Tower Road (now known as Seabright Place) was nicknamed "Bella Vista". I found reference that in 1996, Jon Peters, ex-husband of Barbara Streisand, purchased Bella Vista and demolished it in order to build a more lavish estate.

This wikimapia page places the location of Bella Vista at a different nearby location than what is listed on VGT:

I've yet to come across a definitive reference (photos or a story) of Cooper living in the house listed on VGT, but I'm more convinced it's possible. Perhaps one of our celebrity home enthusiasts can help shed more light on this.

Can you tell me the address?

I know his house was right next to Elton John's(the huge house on the left, though Elton's house was later demolished and a new one was built) and it was burned to the ground 1975(they all actually went to Elton's house to watch the fire) and rebuilt after that.

This was filmed in 1985 and shows Elton John's house demolished and the new one being built. At 1.45 onwards you can clearly see 'Beverly Estates Dr' and 'Tower Grove Dr'. Alice's house is the first house after Elton's on Seabright Dr. Now, if you look at that map...the first house is the same I posted. The front gate also matches.

Now I'm not 100% sure if he still lives there but he does have a house in Los Angeles today and I haven't found anything that would suggest he doesn't own this property. Hah.

Edit. According to this article, the house that was burned in 1975 was formerly owned by H.R. Haldeman.

Quote:

Despite the abundance of blessings, the couple have had their problems. First, Alice's $300,000 Beverly Hills estate, previously home to H.R. Haldeman, burned to the ground. "I was in San Diego," recounts Sheryl. "I picked up the phone and Alice said, 'I've got good news, and I've got bad news. The good news is that the skylight we wanted in our bedroom...well, we're going to have it.' " The bad news was that many cherished possessions, including a portrait of Alice by Salvador Dali, were lost. "

"For now the Coopers are in their rebuilt home, where a huge stuffed buffalo head dominates the stone-and-wood-beamed living room, and a signed copy of the memoirs of Richard Nixon (whom Alice supported) stands on their otherwise bare mantelpiece.

And from Sickthings.co.uk:

Quote:

Even though Alice's Beverly Hills house had been in a fire, it had been repaired. Those old "Maps of Hollywood Stars' Homes" sometimes still list that house. In the late '80s, we saw the house. It had a sign outside that read: "Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore, Go Back and Get a Refund!"

Thank you very much for the followup, Penny83. Your map is now on the site. I've left the Barrymore map on the site in hopes that jdubble07 will fix it.
