TL;DR: You can now submit maps with the new Google Maps URL format.

Hi everyone,

You may or may not have noticed, but Google Maps is rolling out a "new" version. Along with it, shared links have an entirely new format.

Where before, you might have this URL for a Street View map:
/maps?t=k&hl=en-US&gl=US&mapclient=apiv3&ie=UTF8&ll=30.736506,-95.582455
&spn=0.000801,0.001635&z=20&vpsrc=6&layer=c
&cbll=30.736573,-95.582533&panoid=w3v2n8DH0ywFDiTCiQuMzA&cbp=13,189.6,,1,4.8

Now, the new Google Maps will convert it to this URL:
/maps/@30.736573,-95.582533,3a,75y,189.6h,85.2t/data=!3m4!1e1!3m2!1sw3v2n8DH0ywFDiTCiQuMzA!2e0

The new URL format is a bit more compact, but they've moved all of the important fields (location, zoom, street view data) around.

If you had tried submitting one of these new URLs earlier this week, you may have noticed our moderation team rejected them. This is because we couldn't understand the coordinates, zoom, and Street View data from the new URLs yet.

I spent yesterday trying to understand the new URL format, and have released an update to allow VGT to understand the new URLs. The submission page and the embedded viewer should understand them now.

I believe I have most of it working, but there may be bugs. Please let me know if you find anything.
