Using shortened URLs in comments or descriptions is one way to avoid problems with some URLs. If you want to shorten a Google URL, just go to the Google URL Shortener
You can also use TinyURL for non-Google URLs.

Shortened URLs expire after a period of time and no longer point to wher you might think. The same with Tiny URL.
