VirtualGlobetrotting is now HTTPS (SSL) enabled. It's available here:
https://virtualglobetrotting.com/
For now, the HTTPS site is an optional way of accessing VGT. You don't have to, but feel free to. I won't redirect visitors there by default as it causes slightly more overhead than the regular site. Maybe someday soon I'll just switch everyone to SSL.
Please let me know if you hit any strange things on the HTTP or HTTPS site. I've converted all links to "relative protocol", i.e. "//virtualglobetrotting.com/map/foo" instead of "http://virtualglobetrotting.com/map/foo", to ensure once you're on HTTPS you're only seeing HTTPS content. But I've been finding quite a few places where this broke small things. So let me know if you see any issues on either site.

RSS feeds extremely slow on Feedreader. Also, the links on the RSS feeds page ( https://virtualglobetrotting.com/rss_info/ ) do not go to http://feeds.feedburner.com

Thanks mlc1us -- I'm not seeing any slowdowns on Feedreader. Is that still an issue?
The feeds on the /rss_info/ page should auto-redirect to Feedburner once clicked.

I use the version of Feedreader that is installed on my PC, and it freezes for about 2 minutes when I select any VGT title. Then when it "un-freezes" the thumbnails aren't displayed. I tried it on the Feedreader online version, and there was no problem with it.
In Firefox, with the HTTPS version of VGT, when I click on one of the feeds it goes directly to the add feeds section of Feedreader. With the regular version of VGT, it goes to Feedburner.
In Chrome, when I click on one of the feeds it goes to Feedburner with both versions of VGT.
In Internet Explorer, in both versions of VGT, when I click on one of the feeds, it goes to the Feedburner page, but I get the following error message. Quote:
The XML page cannot be displayed Cannot view XML input using style sheet. Please correct the error and then click the Refresh button, or try again later. Access is denied. Error processing resource 'http://virtualglobetrotting.com/rss_trending.xml'.
Feedreader uses ActiveX so I'm thinking the IE issue may be a related to Feedreader freezing.

I think I've fixed all of these issues. They were definitely linked with the HTTPS site updates, but they should be resolved now.
Feedburner is no longer "hanging" when loading posts.

My Feedburner is still "hanging" on the following feeds:
- Blog
- Comments
- Pics
- Stories
- Forums
All other feeds are good now.
