Hi,
I just had a dupe because searching for Kerguelen returns nothing: http://googleglobetrotting.com/search.php?q=kerguelen&t=both because the entry title is spelled (incorrectly I think) Kerguelen, and because search doesn't appear to apply to other fields in an entry (where the standard spelling is used).
Google site search works better: http://www.google.com/search?q=kerguelen+site:googleglobetrotting.com
Maybe an option to search Google should be added to the standard search results, so that extra info giving alternative names or spellings could also be searched.

I'll concede the point that the spelling is likely more correct without the accent on the e. I took the spelling directly from the Times Atlas of the World : Comprehensive Edition, accent and all, but even limiting my Google search to French language pages I've only turned up about 5% that use the accent.
I realize search algorithms are particularly thorny, but the ability to strip diacritics from letters from both search terms and from map titles when searching would probably be helpful.

Yes, being able to strip accents is a good idea. I will see if I can implement this easily or not.
