There is a quick & easy way to get rid of pushpins & search parameters in GM. All you need to do is click the "x" at the end of the search info shown on the expanded menu (under the Map/Satellite icon).

But that still doesn't get rid of street names a location names in map or sat view.

Street names can not be turned off in GM Lite mode, but can be in full mode. Just click/tap "Labels on" on the menu, which can be opened via the 3 horizontal bars on the left end of the GM search box. Unfortunately, Google did not add a labels off code to the URL, so labels still show up when a VGT map is viewed directly in GM.
