I have posted several pics and keep getting comments saying duplicate, even though i have gone through the street view myself and found them! I feel like i am wasting my time sometimes as they are getting removed, just because there is a similar pic, not a duplicate!!!

On the Submit Map form, there is a "Check for Duplicates" button you need to press before finalizing your map submission. It will show you nearby locations already in the database. If the subject of your map (location/object/event) has already been submitted by someone else, then it is not to be posted again.
Exceptions exist, such as allowing one submission for street view and another for an aerial view.
