In the Bing Maps Interface:

Select "Birds Eye" mode, not "Automatic". Turn off labels.

After you have your scene lined up, select "Share" (envelope icon). Select & copy full URL. Paste it into URL field on the Submit Map form.

That's all there is to it.

Hi.

Is there a way to post BEV with the image rotated by 90 or 180 degrees?
I wanted to post St. Quirinus Chapel in Luxembourg which can only be seen if turned by 180 degrees
Thanks

"Live Local". It's one of Microsoft's former names for what we now know as Bing.

By the way, it is no longer necessary to do the copy and paste coordinates thing since nic (VGT Head Honcho) figured out how to decode the string of alpha-numeric characters. You can now submit the BEV URL without modification.

So wait. Huh?

Just to clarify: you can submit a URL just like this --

http://www.bing.com/maps/?v=2&cp=r17...0Forest%2C%20IL

???

That's cool?

Yes, just submit the raw Bing URL and VGT now converts the long/lat for you. That is cool.

since bing was updated in the beginning of december it is not possible to post a map that is rotated in BV to south or west or east.

If i rotated the view in BEV to south and copy the link the map always switch automatically to the north.

Has anybody an idea to solve the problem?

It looks like the Share link from Bing doesn't contain the orientation, eg:
http://www.bing.com/maps/?v=2&cp=ry0...76036&sty=b

Any ideas?

URLs created with the VGT viewer work correctly with the VGT viewer but not with the Bing interface.

Also there is a "Tell us what you think" link in the lower right corner of Bing Maps. Maybe they will do something about it if enough of us tell them what we think.

I can't seem to find a way to construct a new Bing Maps BEV URL that has a different direction than North in it.

These are what the Share links for North are for a random BEV image:
http://www.bing.com/maps/default.aspx?v=...76142&sty=b

And the East view of the same image:
http://www.bing.com/maps/default.aspx?v=...27596&sty=b

Clearly, the dir parameter is the direction.

However, if you paste either of those URLs into your browser, they both end up pointing North.
