We may need a new map category before long. A company in Austin is selling a service to place a giant QR code on business rooftops which will be clearly visible in satellite imagery. QR codes are the square scan codes used by smart phones and are quickly becoming a way for businesses to connect with their customers.

Google is promoting the use of these codes on storefronts to provide information such as telephone numbers and store hours to potential customers. The minor league hockey team I follow uses these codes on the HD scoreboard for fans to access team rosters and other online content.
