I'll tell you, I can't STAND maps of rich people's houses. It's not jealousy, it's disinterest. Put's me to sleep.
But that's OK because there are plenty of people who look at *my* maps and say to themselves, "WTF?"
It's all good.
Here's my suggestion: A daily "Moderator's Pick".
Sort of like the "Most Popular", but a pick from the Mods...

We've discussed similar ideas in the past without much consensus on what it should look like.
Are you thinking just a single map on the home page that would be highlighted each day?
Also, the daily blog posts are one form of a Moderator (often Kevin's) daily pick
