Scavenger hunts are contests to see who can find the most maps in a list of categories. To participate, you simply submit maps as normal, then select the scavenger hunt category you are submitting to. Once a moderator approves your map, you automatically get points for that category.

The user with the most points at the end of the hunt wins!

Past Hunt: Here's Lookin At You! Street View Scavenger Hunt

In celebration of Google Street View's 1-year anniversary and the 37 new cities they've just released Street View images of, we will be starting a new scavenger hunt (Street View focused) on Wed Jun 18 at noon EST. The scavenger hunt will last two weeks and there will be $100 in cash prizes (Amazon.com gift certificates) for the winners. The prize breakdown is as follows:

1st: $50
2nd: $30
3rd: $20

If there is a tie for first place, the prize money will be distributed as such:

1st person to get the high score: $50
All others who get the high score: Split the other $50 evenly

Special Notes For Categories:
Note 1: Not previously submitted to GVT in GM, GE, LL, BEV or YM.
Note 2: Provide a relevant link in 'More Info' to documentation
Note 3: Real person or vehicle, not a picture of one

All submissions must be Google Street View submissions.

This hunt runs from 2008-06-18 11:00:00 until 2008-07-02 11:00:00 (PST timezone).

Rules

All maps submitted for a scavenger must be new and unique (no duplicates of old maps!).
To submit a map for the scavenger hunt, submit a map as normal. On the submissions page, you will have a chance to select a category to submit to.
Once a map is approved by the moderators, you will recieve the points for that category.
The scavenger hunt ends on the date listed. At that point, the user with the most point wins. Ties are allowed.
