Nearly 50 years ago, the Founding Church of Scientology was established in Washington, D.C..

In addition to being the home of the Founding Church, the nation’s capital was also a home to L. Ron Hubbard, the founder of Dianetics and Scientology. It is the city to which Mr. Hubbard would continually return throughout the most important formative years of Dianetics and Scientology from the late 1940s to the early 1950s.
