Description: Giamata Air Base

Number 2 Corps at Timisoara controls the squadrons based at Giarmata, Craiova, Campia Turzii, Caracal-Deveselu, Sibiu, and Caransebes. The first four airbases are equipped with MiG-21s, Oraos and MiG-23s, while the two others operate Pumas and Alouette IIIs.

Analogman's picture Just northwest of these -21s, about 200 meters, you can see the engine test area. Notice the elongated fan-shaped area caused by hot engine exhaust. Also, the red vehicle appears to be a fire truck.
