Experience Music Project: Pics and Storiesnicromulusnr
Part of the building is now devoted to the Science Fiction Hall of Fame And Museum, apparently reflecting another love of Paul Allen's. You're not supposed to take pictures inside, but, whatever. AlbinoFleaSeveral years back, probably 1998-1999, I was selling some items on eBay in order to generate some extra cash in order to buy textbooks. I put a selection of some of my 7" vinyl up for bid, mostly indie stuff from the Washington DC area. Two days later I received an-e-mail from an individual sending me their address, with a note to the effect that they were confident that their bid was sufficient to meet any counter-offers I might receive on a parcticular item. The destination: The Experience Music Project, which at the time was under construction. The 7" in question was a copy of Yes She Is My Skinhead Girl from Unrest released in 1991 as a joint release between K Records of Seattle, WA and Teenbeat Records of Arlington, VA. It was acquired by EMP in an attempt to complete a collection of music released by the various homegrown Seattle record labels. Turns out there was only one other bid, so EMP got it for a bargain price. And although I was hoping to get more for it, it's rather cool to think that one of my old records is now resding at EMP.
