One of the most unique floor plans I have ever witnessed. Unlike any other. Fabulous House designed by David Smelcer, a leading architectural designer in Alabama.

David Smelcer, one of the best architectural designers in existence, designed this house in 1994 and I could not be more pleased with it.

This house was designed by David Smelcer of Birmingham, Alabama in 1994. The original home was constructed of dryvit and stone, but has since been changed to full old world brick. The home was fabulous as is was, but because of the widespread scare of dryvit homes, I felt it necessary to have the house bricked. It is truly a masterpiece. There is not another home with the same floorplan anywhere near this home. It is truly custom and was built as such. Many of the ceilings are two story, including those in the foyer, living room and keeping room. The breakfast room has a cathedral ceiling up to about 15 feet. All three floors are finished except for the two car garage. The second floor rooms all contain triple crown molding and recessed lighting. Schonbek Chandeliers grace the foyer and dining room. The dining room as well as living room are separated with columns. This house was made for entertaining with and open plan and large rooms. The house measures 4,445 square feet and is on a large gently sloping lot. There is a circle driveway for guests and convenience. Guests are greeted by eight foot mahoghany leaded glass doors and a matching paladian window. Landscape lighting creates a magical ambiance during evening hours. The home contains 6 bedrooms and 4.5 bath on all three levels although one is used for a gym. All bathrooms contain raised vanities, except for the lower level bath. This home is special because there is none other like it anywhere. David Smelcer custom designed this home. It contains a large foyer, dining room, two story living room, two story keeping room, kitchen, breakfast room, laundry room, half bath, master bedroom and master bath on the main level. The second story contains three bedrooms all with walk-in closets, and one with a private bath, the other two with a jack and jill bath. The lower level contains two bedrooms, 1 bathroom, 1 den, storage room, hugh closet, two car garage and workshop. All of this is located on a gently sloping lot with a circular driveway, in one of the most sought ater swim and tennis communities in birmingham.

This is the former house of artist Jay Strong who currently resides in the community of Greystone. He is currently designing his future residence which will be located within the same gated community.
