Description: Presumably where early VTOL (vertical take-off and landing) tests were conducted. (XV-3)

Also the Convair Pogo was tested at Ames.

I saw one of the Pogos in storage at the old Silver Springs facility of the Smithsonian bfore they closed it. I asume it is at the new Smithsonian facility at Dulles now.
