Old and new; Tower Bridge and The Shard

Old and new; Tower Bridge and The Shard (StreetView)
London is the perfect blend of old and new. There is so much history and yet so much inovation happening in this global city. This picture is an example.

Tower Bridge: Opened in 1894 as the perfect example of old and new. The style of the bridge was meant to blend with The Tower of London. Yet its hydraulic system as well as bascule (counterweight) style were impressive for the Victorian age.

The Shard: Opened in 2013, The Shard's design caught many of guard. Designer, Renzo Piano called it a shard of glass through the heart of historic London. The Shard is energy efficient with its own combined heat and power plant.
