The Alexander Stadium is situated within the Perry Barr district and is Birminghams premiere athletics venue. In 2003 the Birmingham High Performance Centre was completed and is a state of the art complex that allows athletes to receive the very best training and coaching all year round.

The Alexander Stadium has been host to a number of top flight athletics events including the AAA's Championships and Olympic trials. In August 2006 this venue will be hosting a two day international meeting where Great Britain will compete against USA, Russia and China.

As well as the top national and international meetings, many clubs, regional and school events take place throughout the athletics season. This venue is the home ground to the famous Birchfield Harriers.
