Name:Taconite tailings basin
Description:The Reserve Iron Mining Co. of Silver Bay, MN was forced to stop dumping their waste rock into Lake Superior in the 1980s. Instead, they built this basin outside town. The plant is now run by Cleveland Cliffs. Taconite tailings have since been found to be a suitable alternative to gravel for roadway construction.
