Anderton Boat Lift

Description:

Anderton Boat Lift is the world's first and the UK's only working boat lift. It was opened in 1875 and raises boats 50 feet from River Weaver to the Trent & Mersey Canal. It was closed due to mechanical problems in 1983 and reopened after restoration in 2002.
