there are chinese fighters on board, and i dont think thats a nimitz, our nimitz class carriers are far to advanced and expensive to sell to a rival country such as china. maybe its a forrestal class carrier
kjfitz @ 2006-09-26 18:56:54
It is a model built for an amusement park/military academy according to discussions on the GE forums.
kjfitz @ 2006-09-26 19:00:26
... you are right about it not being a Nmitz class though. Compare to the real Nimitz:

It is a Kuznetsov-class carrier.
Gosell @ 2006-09-26 22:25:37
Bizarre! The area around it has amazing buildings, parks, Golf course, Maze,(31.107533,121.002495) and how did that carrier get there? It's more like an Essex class carrier. 6-700 ft long, smaller than a Nimitz or the Varyag. I think it must be a fake because it is so land-locked, but that is a lot of fake. Maybe for training the new real carrier crews?
Hinkkanen @ 2006-09-27 05:22:08
It is a replica of Nimitz-class carrier, info and pictures here:

The site is called Orient Green Boat Theme Park.

Good job tracking the images down.

I disagree with Global Security about it being a Nimitz. If you look at the previously posted aerial pictures of the Nimitz and the Varyag it is very clearly a copy of the Varyag. Look at the various indentations and contours around the flight deck and the positioning of the superstructure.
Hinkkanen @ 2006-09-27 10:27:18
Perhaps the intention was not to built an exact replica of anything but just to make a "generic" aircraft carrier look-a-like.
voldude123 @ 2006-09-27 11:27:53
it is definately NOT an essex. essex carriers do not have an angled flight deck
kjfitz @ 2006-09-27 11:30:22
Compare to this:

If you look at the flight deck, there is a noticible slope upwards at the bow of the ship. no nimitz class carrier has ever had this. also, there are no "studs" sticking out of the bow, like the nimitz class.

its a copy of the varyag. no doubt in my mind
Gosell @ 2006-09-27 15:50:12
The Essex and others of this class were modified with angled decks in the 1950s. the Intrepid in NYC is an Essex class.

the bow ramp is similar to the Kuznetsov
