Sadly, seeing as Bernie Robbins is a corporate name, this minor league baseball stadium will probably have a new name eventually.
jbottero @ 2006-11-21 11:25:37
I'm told that it's actually known by "locals" as The Sandcastle...
AKpilotEMT @ 2006-11-21 12:34:44
Apparently, The Sandcastle was its original name (since 1998) and was the official name up until very recently (this past summer '06.) Most locals most certainly will hold onto the respectable, non-corporate Sandcastle name. It's good that it has that nickname because God knows how many new names this stadium will suffer through in this new era of ever-changing naming rights for American sports and music venues.

In any case, Go Surf!

Yup. We have "Quest Field" here in Seattle... Surprised it's not "Microsoft Field". Really makes ya think of baseball...
jbottero @ 2006-11-21 13:02:07
Er, I mean "Qwest Field", as in Qwest Communications, the phone company...
AKpilotEMT @ 2006-11-21 13:30:02
Qwest is the Seahawks' field and Safeco is the Mariners field. Both corporate. Safeco (the name) has lastest a surprisingly long time now! If there was an agreement to change it tomorrow I totally wouldn't be surprised. And if Qwest is a communications company, that's likely to change in the future, also, and then everything will have to be changed, new name, new signs, new etc.

How many name changes did the Kingdome go through?

I love America but this whole rotating names game is just ludicrous and very sad.
