To answer jbottero's question above... the shuttle can land at Edwards. It is the primary alternate landing location. Do you see how some of the marked out runways (the marks are 8 feet wide and made of something similar to motor oil) have dashed lines down their centers while others don't? The dashed lines indicate that the runway is certified for the Shuttle to land on. |
