Description: This volcano popped up in 1538. It covered the remains of roman baths to the northeast. The lake to the NE is reputed locally to be "bottomless." In the greek Odyssey Homer enters Hell. The specific Oracle he enters through has ben placed on the edge of the same lake. As a kid I used to play in this crater. There are WWII gun emplacements all over the mountain and roman ruins all around the base.
