This is the home of "American Idol" judge Simon Cowell. He purchased the home in 2004 from Jennifer Lopez and demolished it to build what is under construction in the thumbnail above. While under construction he is renting a home down the road.

It was owned by Charlie Sheen previously.
Simon Cowell visited another house owned by Jennifer Lopez that he wanted to buy, but Jennifer Lopez promised it to Gwen Stefani. I think that is where the confusion sprang from.

And I don’t think anything was razed, but the whole thing was emptied, “taken down”, to use the words used by Jennifer Post, the interior designer who worked with Simon on the house.
