The chairman and chief executive officer of Merrill Lynch lives here. Previously, he was CEO of the New York Stock Exchange and prior to that, both president and chief operating officer of Goldman Sachs, starting in July, 2003. Haute Living Magazine says the property is so large it spans three towns and actually has five addresses. This means that Thain has to pay property taxes in two separate districts, which are estimated to be at $150,000 a year in at least two towns. The $10 million mansion sits on 10 acres and includes several beehives, a clay tennis court and two swimming pools, a large outbuilding as big as some of the surrounding properties and several large paddocks. A river runs through his massive backyard, while a lake stocked with fish borders the property in its northwest corner.
