I visted the Thomas Wolfe House in October of 2000, as part of the First Day ceremony for the Thomas Wolfe stamp that was issued by the USPS in that year as part of the literary arts series.

The strange blue color of the roof is actually from a tarp that was placed over the house in order to protect it from the elements, since the house fell victim to arson in July 1998.

kjfitz's picture Hmm. My Description used to say exactly that. It seems to have gone bye, bye.

It's strange that there's no indication that it has been updated...? Feel free to re-add it and deep-six my comment.

AlbinoFlea's picture I lived a year in eastern Tennessee, so I got to visit fairly regularly in 2000-2001. I'm also a big Thomas Wolfe fan, so I made my first pilgrimage down there when the post office issued a stamp to commemorate the 100th anniversary of his birth.

Asheville's a pretty cool little town, IMHO.
