| | Name: | Duomo di San Tomaso | | Description: | The imposing facade of the Cathedral of San Tomaso in Marsala is dedicated to St Thomas of Canterbury. It is a columned basilica of Norman origin, which in the 18th century was completely renewed. It houses several works of the Gagini family: an “Assunta” by Antonino Gagini (1562, second side-chapel on the right), “Madonna dell'Itria” after the model of the Byzantine Hodigitria, also by Antonino (1565, fourth side chapel on the right), “Madonna del Popolo” of Domenico (1490, right-hand transept apse) and a large altar retable by Antonello and his son Gian Domenico (completed in 1530, left-hand transept chapel).
