This was the final home of the late singer and television personality. He died quietly in his sleep on May 12, 2001. The house was sold in 2002 for $3.25 million to Dixon Gannett, the son of Frank Gannett, who is founder of Gannett Co., the largest publisher of newspapers in the U.S.
The house was sold to it's current owner in 2010 for $3 million. The house has since been demolished and a contemporary styled modern mansion was built on the premises.
