Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, Harper family

This house was built on the ABC reality TV show in January 2005. The Harper's old home had a faulty septic system, and was torn down in order to build this spacious four bedroom home. At the time, this was the largest home built for the show. This episode is memorable in that host Ty Pennington had to leave the project to have his appendix removed. The episode first aired on February 20, 2005.

Three years later, the house is on the auction block after the Harper's used the house as collateral on a loan for a construction business that failed. The mayor of the city and some of the 1800 volunteers who helped on the six day construction project have vented their frustrations at the Harper's for squandering their gift house.
