Picatinny Arsenal includes 950 buildings on 6,500 acres. It is home of the U.S. Army Armament Research, Development and Engineering Center (ARDEC). The Center performs life cycle engineering for Department of Defense guns, ammunition, fire control, and associated weaponry. ARDEC Engineers perform work in basic sciences, engineering development, producibility, production, field support, and demilitarization. ARDEC is the Army executive agent for research and development (R&D) for pollution prevention. With an annual budget between one and two billion dollars, ARDEC employs 3,750 people at Picatinny.
