What the heck is this? Looks like a very large cage for a very large something. Ooh, I bet the X-files fans will have a field day with this one.

it looks like another Classic Bullseye monitoring station, just like the one at http://googleglobetrotting.com/info.php/mid/2274

It is a AN/FLR-9 circularly disposed antenna array (CDAA)

Like the AN/FRD-10 it is a circularly--disposed antenna arrays (CDAAs) but it is actually a AN/FLR9. The Navy deployed the AN/FRD-10s (Classic Bullseye) but the Army and Air Force deployed the AN/FLR-9s. There are only two AN/FLR-9s one here in Elmendorf and the other in Misawa, Japan.

There is one other FLR9 remaining at Menworth Hill in England. (all others have been dismantled at the end of the cold war.) These antennas were used to monitor HF communications. It is also used for direction finding.
