Description: The Lea County Correctional Facility is a 350,000 square-foot private prison located on 60 acres leased from Lea County yet annexed by the city of Hobbs, New Mexico. It is located four miles NW of Hobbs, NM off State Highway 18, two miles west of the Lea County Event Center on the grounds of a WWII airbase. This medium security facility contracted by Lea County to house NMCD male offenders, is owned by Correctional Properties Trust and operated by The GEO Group, Inc. The facility employs 312 staff and security personnel.
