It was evidently built at some point between 1947-48. The EEBEE airfield was apparently closed at some point between 1951-55.

The loop road was an early test track for military vehicles.

National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA). January 2011 was the start of incrementally deploying the NGA work force of 8,500 to the new campus. The facility is referred to as NGA Campus East (NCE), and it will be delivered by 15 September 2011.
