Nova Scotia's Pictou Island appears to be giving off quite a glow. (Maybe Canada's secret plutonium storage is leaking?!)
This small, one dirt road island with an almost equally small population has no stores nor any electricity from the mainland. A passenger ferry serves the island for about half the year with small plane service the rest of the year.
In early February 2006, Global Warming accelerated by mankind's abuse of fossil fuels, claimed the lives of thousands of grey seals in this area of Canada. The seals usually give birth on ice at sea. Because of warmer than usual weather, seals had to come ashore to give birth. A tremendous storm came through the area dumping heavy amounts of snow while kicking up sea waves, both of which threated and ultimately killed 2 to 3,000 seals on Pictou Island. Anywhere people walked on the beaches dead seals would be seen. More that were swept out to sea keep washing up.
Global Warming is a natural occurence but sadly mankind is unnaturally speeding up the cycle and putting in danger millions of wild animals and fellow humans, as well.
