Aaron Charney made national headlines when he sued his employer, the white-shoe law firm of Sullivan & Cromwell, where he alleged anti-gay discrimination and retaliation, among the complaints. He sued in January of 2007 and two days after he filed his lawsuit, he had his BlackBerry disconnected, and was placed on paid leave, and two weeks before he would be served with a countersuit and fired. "Charney sued S&C by himself,while still employed by, and collecting a paycheck from, the firm. His allegations were shocking and salacious. Charney claimed that an executive partner of the firm handed him a document and said, 'I just took a shit while reading this, and some might still be on there for you.'" He subsequently settled nine months later for an undisclosed, but a rumored $15 million. After he was fired from Sullivan & Cromwell, he was hired by the law firm of Clifford Chance in New York.
