Anonymous's picture its a happy day when we finally moved out of 1645 abbot kinney loft building. there are so many things wrong with the building and its management that the outweighs the great location and the benefits of new construction.

first of all, the building was charging different tenants different amounts for rent for the same floor plans. and, even tenants who missed rent or were late on their payments still paid less than i did.

every single appliance in the apartment has broken at one point or the other save the stove top and oven. not to mention that the furnishings are all from ikea and had already begun to fall apart at the 21st month we had lived in the apartment before we moved out.

the building was giving "incentives" for people to stay. it was basically one month free if you signed another year long lease. honestly, you could not pay me to stay there. i would rather live in a less prime of an area, and in an older building then to have to deal with the crap of the management ever again.

issues were not addressed by management in a timely or professional manner. the on site building manager has severe mood swings. she also picks favorites. as an adult it made me feel like i was back in grade school again, with certain tenants she liked getting better treatment. another bizarre thing is that one day she would be chatty with you and the next she wouldn't even look up to say hello while when passing you in the hallway.

they kept $700 form our $7,000+ deposit. absolutely ridiculous. and, what we got of our deposit, was sent 35+ days after our last day in the apartment. California law says that land lords must get you your deposit back by the 21st day of tenancy, otherwise, they owe you your deposit in full if they are any day over that. i would rather give them my $700 they kept then to call and try to deal with these people in order to try and get it back. that's how bad they are.

this by far is my favorite little tid-bit about the place. they are required by law to provide two units as low income households. so the two units they provided are the on site managers apartment (which she lives in for free) and one other apartment that they rent out to a diabled women. get this, after she had been there a rear they raised her rent 11% on her. mind you this woman walks with a walker, can not really speak and is very hard of seeing. this one action just proves how greedy and disgusting the ownership/management of this building really is.

not to mention that for $3000+ a month in rent, they have had 2 car break ins in the garage and countless bikes stolen from off of the property.

if any prospective tenants are looking at this considering moving in, i would say don't let the charm of new and modern construction get the best of you. the quality and people running this building are all less than desirable and made the living situation there miserable.
