The Airdrie Airpark was originally built in 1940 as a RCAF training facility. It saw use after the war as one of Calgary's general aviation airports.
This image shows the early stages of renovations currently under way; the field owners intend to turn Airdrie Airpark into a commercial aviation facility. One wonders if its location (close to the departure path of Calgary International Airport's longest runway) will affect its success.
