I wondr if that plane is left over on an abandoned airfield that has been developed over.

I jumped to a much more nefarious conclusion. Along the lines of insurgents hiding a plane downtown for to launch an unexpected air attack. However, if that were the case, you'd think they'd do a better job hiding it.
