Al Gore is an American politician and environmentalist who famously served as the 45th Vice President of the United States from 1993 to 2001 under President Bill Clinton. Amidst Clinton's scandalous second term, Gore was nominated on the Democratic ticket for the 2000 presidential election but lost the election after an infamous Florida recount. The 2000 presidential election was one of the closest presidential races in history. Gore won the popular vote, but was eventually settled by the U.S. Supreme Court, which ruled 5–4 in favor of Bush. Gore lost the election to George W. Bush in the Electoral College, after the supreme court's decision to ratify the recount results.

After Clinton ended his term in 2001, Gore stayed in the public eye as an author and environmental activist. Eventually going on to earn the Nobel Peace Prize in 2007 for his work in climate change activism. His most noted documentary an Inconvenient Truth won an Academy Award in 2006.

Gore was a public official for 24 years. Starting in Tennessee (1977–1985) and from 1985 to 1993 as a senator of that state.

Al Gore got his start as a simple Tennessee farmer, who along with his stake in a local mining operation, had earned a fortune of around $1.7 Million, before stepping into the public eye as a senator. Then off the back of his smash hit documentary he founded Current TV and his net worth skyrocketed to nearly $300 Million. The network, which was reported to have earned over $100 in a single month at its peak, making enough to eventually be sold to Al Jazeera for $500 Million. Gore also sits on the board of Apple Inc. and owns $35 Million of shares in the company. That’s also without mentioning his role as the chairman of Generation Investment Management which has $7 billion in assets alone. Certainly Mr. Gore has made a life for himself, even if that life isn’t president.
