Alan Wood, Jr. was a republican U.S. State Representative for the state of Pennsylvania as well as a steel industry magnate.
The residence, Woodmont, was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1998.
In 1956, the property was purchased by Father Divine, the founder of the International Peace Mission movement and self-proclaimed reincarnation of God. The followers of Father Divine's teachings, still live on the estate, as does Father Divine's widow, known as Mother Divine.
