Alec Keith is the former Chairman of Watson Pharmaceuticals (as of 2013 Actavis), where he helped grow the company into what now is the world's third-largest generics prescription drug manufacturer. After starting his career in acedemia, he commercialized his research into a transdermal patch for nitroglycerin. He went on to form his own company, Zetachron, which later merged with Watson Pharmaceuticals. Keith served as Chairman of Watson from 1991 until 1996, leading its growth to a $5.3 billion company. He is currently Chairman of Gray*Star, which designs and markets irradiators for the food industry, and serves as an adjunct faculty member in chemistry at the University of Hawaii at Hilo.
