Alexander Suvorov (11/24/1729 or30 - 5/18/1800) was a Generalissimo (general of the highest rank) for the Holy Roman Empire and Russian Empire. Suvorov was one of a very few generals who never lost a battle, winning over 60 large battles. Suvorov is considered a Russian hero and has numerous monuments and town named after him.

This monument is dedicated to Suvorov as a youthful Mars, Roman god of war. It was created by Mikhail Kozlovsky in 1801.
