It is a problem with a satellite. I bet in it. An explanation so simple. An ET civilization here in Earth seems ridiculous....

(sorry for my poor English)

If you scroll the google map down, you'll notice the Sat image changes colours...in fact the alien civilization turns into a RIVER further south.

An interesting glitch, but not an alien :)

I live close to there and in fact that is part of smithville lake which measn that all of that is under water. I have heard many people say that they see strange red and or green lights that fly over that part of the lake at night. they say that you can watch them for about 1 1/2 hours on almost any night. please let me know if you have any more info.

thanks.

google has a sence of humour. that's all it is. if you look at satelite images of the moon, zoom in all the way and you see animated cheese.

Maube ice, reflecting the sattelite? it is indeed a river, the upper photo maybe taken in winter, the lower in summer..

that is exactly what it is the sattalite photo that has the error is from the older types of infrred sattalites that would sometimes screw up when reflecting on ice. I guess someone left it in couse its cool.

look a little to the North East of this photo, and you'll see a huge gray cloud, and the shadow it casts on earth. Nothing really special, but pretty cool looking.

Smithville Resevoir is what it's called. I've been there, I've jet skiied on the lake, it's not an alien civilization.

Atlantis was so scared of being caught in the Atlantic Ocean that they moved their whole city to Missouri. Now stop this stupid rambling about "aliens".

So it looks like it is an underwater chemical waste management facility. Not a strange space alien city. Tell your friends.

Well, if so that's one hell of an expensive underwater chemical waste facility... according to

http://www.bartleby.com/69/39/S12939.html

Smithville Reservoir covers 11 square miles, just over 7000 acres.

Also, from

http://www.dnr.missouri.gov/wpscd/wpcp/nps/G95-NPS-04.htm

and from

http://www.nwk.usace.army.mil/03part1.pdf

it seems that the only serious contamination in the reservior is the pesticide atrazine:

http://www.epa.gov/oppsrrd1/reregistration/atrazine/srrd_summary_may02.pdf

which, while not harmless, certainly wouldn't necessitate the type of structure you postulate.
